Encouraging adventure and independence through a collaboration with a premier provider of safety identification tags
iOS
The Audience
Runners, cyclists, hikers and all adventurers who want the peace of mind that the can safely complete outdoor activities alone.
The Problem
Create an application that allows adventurers to share their activity status and their location with family or friends (their guardians). Keep in mind they are on the go, outdoorsy mindset.

The Process
Persona Creation
Personas were created to get into the headspace of an adventurer and a guardian.
Feature Prioritization
Based on the needs of both users and business goals, features were grouped into priority order.
User Journey Mapping
A journey map was created for both the adventurer and the guardian to identify all the touch points within the app.
Wireframes
Wireframes were created to identify the rough structure of the pages as well as the general flow.
System Context
Collaboration with the development team took place throughout the process. An important piece of this was identifying how all the systems talked together and ensuring there was a design for all scenarios.
Prototyping & Usability Testing
Prototypes were created and tested. There was emphasis on the emergency alert feature to ensure it was easy enough to tap, but not too easy to tap by accident.
Low Fidelity Designs & Exploration
A variety of styles were explored on to how best translate the Road iD brand into the application.
Style Guide & Componentization
Visual style was agreed upon. Style guides and reusable components were created to ensure a consistent visual experience across devices
High Fidelity Designs
The defined visual identity was carried across all screens to bring sophistication and polish to the previously low-fidelity designs.
